Designer or Duds?
So I'm all for everyone looking their best but what is up with all of the designers who are now launching lines at the local Target or Kohl's such as Vera Wang and Hollywould? Does this change your view of their luxury lines or do their new lines allow the masses to wear designer duds? I will never forget when I bought a very pricey bikini and wrap from Mossimo (o.k. so now you know I'm no spring chicken) and that same season it became available at Target for $19.99 - I was mortified and never wore it again. Am I missing the boat or do you sympathize with this self-professed label snob?

LOL...it's funny you say that. I dont't think it changes my view on the luxury line. Look at it this way Dolce & Gabbana is the more higher end line. They have D&G which is more affordable. Not many people can go and buy vera wang at saks but it give them some joy to go to kohl's and be able to by vera wang at an affordable price. Me as a designer i would do the same " i think" not sure would have to check with my manager"...lol but i would like to do a more casual line.
Also on the mossimo thing they have been saleing at traget for years girl how old is that bikini...much Love DIVA Rickie
I've been lusting over Loeffler Randall handbags for some time, and just last week, I saw one in Target as part of their masstige line. It could've been mine for a mere $50, but there's something about having an item that (a) is mass-produced and (b) so attainable that I didn't have to work for it, that makes the item lose its luster. That said, I did buy an Issac Mizrahi dress there over the holidays not because of the name, but because it was beautiful and fit perfectly.
You get what you pay for. Enjoy yourself when it comes to clothing. I have people that come into my store all the time and get hysterical over a $178 pair of jeans and I'm just hoping that they don't see the $319 pair on the next fixture! It's all perceived value. You'll pay what you think it's worth. Besides, everyone who's anyone knows the difference between the Target lines and the couture lines. Don't sweat it is my philosophy. What I'd like to see a blog on is the influx of the ancient snow birds in the valley right now. They're everywhere! They just walk around the shops (in their walkers and motorized carts) and whine about how expensive everything is here! It's killing me! When do the go back? I'm sure Paradise Bakery and Denny's are glad they're here, but c'mon....
