What Came First? Celebrity or Designer?

Dozens of celebrities are have thrown their designer hats into the fashion ring. Some of the latest are Pete Wentz, Penelope and Monica Cruz, Sienna Miller, Mary-Kate and Ashley, Ashley Judd, Amanda Bynes and Lauren Conrad. Will they be taken seriously when most of the time they don't even dress themselves? Does it come down to the almighty buck or is this really a creative outlet for those who already have name recognition and can capitalize on the public's interest in all things celeb related or endorsed?

What i believe they are just trying to cash the bucks. Their name does it all for them. So celebrity came first. If you look at it some of them don't even wear there own designs, i can't because i do womens.

Cashing in. There are very few celebrities who had interests in fashion prior to becoming celebrities. There's talk that Katie Holmes has a children's designer clothing line in the works! Who is she kidding? She had no style until she married Mr. Cruise who gave her the financial freedom to be able to HIRE a stylist who apparently is amazing. No one goes from mom-jeans to haute couture overnight without having a fabulous stylist!

I am boycotting celebrity endorsed products unless I truly find something that is inspirational and original (and of quality!).

Some celebrities do have style- or maybe I am biased because I LOVE Mary Kate and Ashley. They do the whole vintage thing and have a distinct look. On the other hand, Katie Holmes- that is funny. I believe some people have it and some don't...if you do, capitalize on it. If you don't, keep that stylist close. Overall- celebrity came first.
